His voice may have dipped to a baritone, but Jones has still shifted over six million records, entertained the Pope and the Queen, and has even become something of a minor television celebrity. One hit wonder, he isn’t. You Raise Me Up collects together highlights from his 16 albums to date. Featuring many of his best-loved hits “I Believe”, “Silent Night”, “Abide With Me”, “Marble Halls” and, of course, the title track Jones has also pulled off the wonderful masterstroke of re-recording “Walking in the Air”, superimposing his current voice onto the original to create a most enchanting self-duet. Fans won’t need much persuading to add this to their collection; and those who had Jones down as a novelty act might want to listen to this and think again.–Danny McKenna
